Man charged with murders of his mother, sister and pet dog in Cumbria

A man has been charged with the murders of his mother and sister.

The bodies of Alice McMeekin, 58, and Kathryn Jenkin, 20, were found at the family home in Millom, Cumbria, on Saturday morning. The pair had suffered head injuries. Their pet dog was also found dead.

John Jenkin, 23, who was arrested shortly after, is accused of murder and animal cruelty. He is due to appear from custody at Furness district magistrates court on Monday.
